Mother's Day Marketing

Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is a fantastic marketing opportunity for SkinBase treatments because they aren’t just about pampering and indulgence, they’re also seriously effective. It’s great to treat mums to any beauty treatment, but making it one that will really help to boost their confidence and give them the skin they’ve always wanted? We think that’s a truly thoughtful gift. So read on for our top tips for making the most out of Mother’s Day...

Content Marketing

There are all sorts of different mums, which means there are loads of different ways you can talk about Mother’s Day in your marketing. Mums of all ages, mums with jobs, full-time mums, mums with newborns, mums with grown-up kids. You can really get creative with your Mother’s Day content. Here are just a few ideas, but you should make sure your content is tailored towards your own clients, and the role you play in their lives:
  • Dealing with post-pregnancy hormonal skin
  • How to brighten up a tired complexion
  • How to treat pregnancy pigmentation (melasma)
  • Super quick skincare routine tips
  • How to tone up stomach muscles
  • Easy wellness tips for busy mums
  • Tackling ageing skin
  • Help with stretch marks and sagging skin

Spreading the word

In the run-up to Mother’s Day, you will need to try and reach a market that you might not usually have much contact with;
  • Your client’s partners who will be buying gifts on behalf of their children,
  • Older kids – teenagers and young adults.
You’ll also need to make sure that your clients themselves are being targeted with your Mother’s Day marketing so that they can either drop hints for themselves or treat their own mums! Here are some tips for how to reach this wider audience:

  • Window and pavement displays – Make sure that they are Mother’s Day themed, and mention gift vouchers or any offers you’re doing so that anyone walking around looking for a present for their mum can’t miss it!
  • Talk to other clients – If you do other treatments or beauty services in your salon, such as hair or nails, make sure your clients know that you’re offering skin treatment gift vouchers (and offers, if applicable) for Mother’s Day.
  • Make a special gift voucher for Mother’s Day – Even if you use online/email gift vouchers, why not have it redesigned to reflect the special day, with a floral or spring-inspired background?
  • Social advertising – Times where you want to reach a group of people who wouldn’t normally follow you, it’s a good idea to set aside a bit of budget for advertising. Make the posts focused on the availability of gift vouchers for Mother’s Day.

In-store events

Why not run a special event one evening before Mother’s Day? Offer mums a free skin consultation, mini-massage or express manicure, and a discount if they book a treatment for after Mother’s Day? You could even give them a mini gift, skincare samples, a few chocolates, for example.  Advertise the event to your clients and it will also make for great social media content. It’s a great way to attract mums whose children have left home and won’t be around over the Mother’s Day weekend.

Stay compassionate

Whatever you decide to do to mark the occasion, remember that some women find Mother’s Day a really painful day if they have lost a child, are struggling to conceive or have lost their own mum. Make sure to intersperse your Mother’s Day content with plenty of other things too, and always write ‘Mother’s Day’ in the text of your posts and in your email subject lines so clients can choose not to read these messages.
