Halloween Marketing

Save your clients from their beauty nightmares!

The nights are closing in, the weather is getting colder and we’re starting to look forward to cosy knitwear and mugs of hot chocolate. Of course, before all that happens there’s something else to celebrate – Halloween! This spooky holiday is the perfect time to talk to clients about your treatments with some fun posts. Why? Because everyone loves Halloween! We love to see ghoulish and creepy decorations and themed social media posts, and it can be the perfect way to grab your client's attention and draw them in. Here are just a few Halloween ideas to entice clients into the salon.

Decorate!
Keep it subtle and in keeping with your decor colours or go all out crazy to get clients talking, – whether it be some subtle white-painted pumpkins or going all out with witches hats, jack-o-lanterns and candles, have some fun with it! Why not give your pumpkins a beauty makeover? They don't need to look scary, some false lashes, defined brows and lips to die for will give clients a laugh and help promote your services too!

Beauty Nightmares

Get on Facebook and Instagram and ask your clients to share their worst beauty stories, or ‘beauty nightmares’ for a chance to win a prize. You could even start by sharing your own, and getting any other team members to share theirs too!  There is a social post for this in the attachments for you to use.

Offers

We don't advocate offers as a general rule, they need to be done well to avoid bargain hunting and actually generate a return for you. Use them to encourage an upgrade to a more expensive treatment, to encourage a client to try a new treatment, to encourage booking a block of treatments or to incentivise a retail sale. Here are a few ideas for offers you could have on for Halloween:

• Treat not trick! Try a new treatment and receive 10% off to celebrate Halloween

• Do you dare? Book a SkinBase treatment before Halloween and get £5 off your SkinBase homecare cream!

• (Trick or) Treat yourself… take advantage of our spookily good Halloween offer and upgrade to a luxury Microdermabrasion facial for free!

• Glam not Ghoulish! Book 6 treatments for the price of 5 this Halloween!

  • Feet that could frighten Frankenstein’s Monster? Try our Pedicure in time for Halloween and we will throw in a free foot massage!

Put these offers, or your own ideas, onto posters, fliers, pavement signs, on social media and in emails. By October, people are spending more time indoors which means they’re more likely to be online, looking at social media. In summer, while people still post, they don’t browse quite as much, which is why digital marketers often see an increase in engagement when the weather gets colder. Halloween is the perfect opportunity for your salon to burst back onto their social media feeds and email inboxes!

Get talking

Halloween hashtags are a great way to get the word out and increase the number of people that your social media posts will reach. Think things like #halloweenparty, #halloweenmakeupideas, #halloween2018. Just make sure that your hashtags are relevant to your post! If you’re decorating your salon, share photos too! Although this might not get you any direct bookings, it will be great for getting people to interact with your posts, which is excellent for building and maintaining your client base.

Treat not trick

Why not hold an in-salon trick or treat event? If you want to increase footfall to your salon, put together a little event on Halloween. One idea could be to do a Halloween ‘trick or treat’ lucky dip where they have to pick something out of a bag for the chance to win a treat. The prizes can range from a mini bag of Halloween sweets to a 10% off voucher or even a free treatment if you want to offer that. For the item they have to pick out of the bag, it could be as simple as a ghost, bat or pumpkin shape cut out of coloured paper, or you could find mini plastic pumpkins to write the prizes on! Remember to make sure that everyone leaves with a prize of some kind, as well as your treatment brochure.

Halloween is a fun holiday, and it’s an important one in terms of how it makes people feel – summer is over, the weather is getting colder and the days darker. Successfully using Halloween as a marketing technique is all about embracing the sense of fun and lightheartedness around the holiday.
